How is the Houston Real Estate Market trending in 2015?
Following 2014 the Houston Real Estate Market is trending strong as the results from the 1st quarter breakdown on March 31, 2015 shows records which surpassed expectations. According to Houston Association of Realtors, average home values have rose to $276,445 a 4.6% increase from 2014 average of $276,444. New listings have increased by 10.6% to 2,458. Supply is finally meeting demand as the amount of closed sales have decreased by 19.2% yet pending sales are at a 17.6% rise at 2087. With continued demand how will the Spring market result?

Will Oil Cause Home Values to Plummet?
No one knows what the new year holds for the Houston housing market. Various economists have forecast, and all of the experts believe, lower oil prices will be a negative for home sales; yet they do not believe that prices will fall. Chief economist for Stewart Title, Dr. Ted Jones, expects home sales will decline by 10-12%, while prices will continue to rise between 3-6%. He expects months’ inventory to rise to about 5.6 months in 2015, up from 2.5 months at end of 2014. Historically low mortgage interest rates are helping drive the market now. Jones predicts that the mortgage interest rates will rise to 5.6-6% in the next 12 months. So if you've been thinking of selling, now is still a good time to sell!

The total home sales for 2014 was $38,357,691. New and resale homes sold was 56, 41 of those were resale.
